McLaren Automotive CEO named an Automotive News All-Star for 2019 as brand continues its North American growth.

McLaren Automotive global CEO Mike Flewitt has been recognized as one of Automotive News automotive All-Stars for 2019 as the luxury supercar company continues its unprecedented growth in the key North American market.

Collecting his award as All-Star CEO, Exotic Brand, last night in Detroit, Automotive News Editors noted: “McLaren Automotive shares a noticeable trait with its hand-built vehicles. Speed. That pace begins with CEO Mike Flewitt. Under his direction, McLaren’s global sales have expanded rapidly and without the volume assistance of SUVs that have helped other exotic and ultraluxury brands in recent years.”

Auto industry executives from a variety of disciplines were selected as All-Stars for their accomplishments over the past year. Automotive News reporters and editors have selected the top executives in the industry since the first All-Stars were named in 1981.

This latest award follows close on the heels of Motor Trend nominating Mike into their Top 20 Power List for 2019, honoring executives that are key players in the global automotive industry across all disciplines.

In their citation, Motor Trend editors commented: “Flewitt is making McLaren synonymous with ‘supercar’. His latest salvo: the magnificent Senna, which can deliver a spiritual awakening to even the most experienced drivers. The company continues to grow its product line, production, sales, profits and stature under Flewitt’ s steady hand.”

These accolades come as McLaren Automotive continues on pace to set another record-breaking sales year in its biggest global market, North America, which now accounts for more than 40% of global volume.

Since entering the US market in late 2011 the McLaren brand has seen massive growth in sales, recently passing the 7,000-vehicle milestone, and continues to set monthly records with sales up more than 17% year-on-year in 2019.

This business expansion has necessitated a move for the North American McLaren HQ for 2020 from a 4,500 square foot downtown New York office suite to a custom designed 30,000 square foot facility in a high-tech industrial park in Coppell, Texas.
