Mike Flewitt - Chief Executive Officer
Mike Flewitt joined McLaren Automotive as Chief Operating Officer in June 2012 and became Chief Executive Officer in July 2013.

Since becoming CEO, he has presided over the significant growth of the business, in terms of product development, turnover and profit.

Under his tenure, the company has launched its product family of Sports Series, Super Series, Ultimate Series as well as the new McLaren GT and motorsport products for customer racing.

McLaren Automotive is now the largest part of the combined McLaren Group.

In 2018 Mike announced the Track25 business plan which will see the company unveil 18 new models or derivatives with 100 per cent of its sportscars and supercars hybrid by 2024.

The same year, he also opened the new £50m McLaren Composites Technology Centre alongside TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain, that will innovate and manufacture the next generation of McLaren’s lightweight chassis to help achieve the company’s goal of winning the new automotive ‘weight race’ linked to vehicle performance.

In 2019 the brand celebrated the manufacture of its 20,000th car as the company moves towards producing 6,000 cars a year by the end of Track25.

Prior to joining McLaren Automotive, Mike was Vice President, Manufacturing, Ford of Europe, and Corporate Officer, Ford Motor Company.  Before joining Ford, he held senior manufacturing and operations roles at TWR Group Limited, AutoNova AB and Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars Limited. He qualified in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and completed a post-graduate qualification in Management and Project Management at Salford University in 1996.


Rian Urding - Chief Financial Officer
Rian Urding joined McLaren Automotive in April 2019 as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Executive team. 

Rian has joined McLaren from The London EV Company USA (LEVCUSA), a wholly owned subsidiary within the Geely Group, where he was CEO. 

While at LEVCUSA Rian led the company's strategic growth and expansion in the United States through the design and development of an all new, plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle for the fleet delivery market. 

In 2009 Rian co-founded Emerald Automotive, a start-up business focusing on low-emission commercial vehicles. 

The business was sold to the Geely Group in 2014 and the company’s technology now underpins the new electric range extended London Taxi, the TX. 

Prior to this Rian was the CFO of Intelligent Energy Holdings plc, a clean power-systems company specialising in fuel cell technology research. 

Rian studied accountancy at the University of East Anglia before training with Price Waterhouse Coopers. 

Following qualification as a ICAEW Chartered Accountant in 1999, Rian has spent most of his career in high growth, intellectual property driven, deeply technical businesses. 

Earlier in his career Rian was commissioned into the Royal Air Force and later joined the British Army, eventually retiring as a Captain.


Ruth Nic Aoidh - Executive Director of Purchasing, Commercial, Government Affairs & Legal at McLaren Automotive
Ruth joined McLaren Group in 2009 as a Legal Adviser, rising through the ranks to become an Executive Director in 2014 and now oversees Purchasing, Commercial, Government Affairs & Legal . She plays a pivotal role in strategic and commercial affairs across McLaren Automotive, as well as managing all government engagement and corporate governance for the brand across the globe.

Ruth is a member of the Executive Board, shaping and influencing the future strategy of McLaren Automotive, including their commitment to using ground-breaking innovation to achieve a minimal environmental footprint and maximum social impact. She also sits on the Board of Directors acting as Company Secretary.

Ruth graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws, and holds other qualifications from De Montfort University, The Law Society of Ireland and The Law Society of England & Wales.


Rob Melville - Design Director
Rob joined McLaren Automotive in 2009 as Senior Designer rising to Chief Designer in 2014 before becoming Design Director in 2017. 

During his time at McLaren, Rob has worked on the McLaren P1™, the evolution of the 12C into the 650S, the 675LT, and was responsible for the Sports Series which won the ‘Best of the Best’ category in the coveted Red Dot design awards in 2016. 

Most recently he led the design of the 720S, the first model in the second-generation Super Series.

As Design Director, Rob is now responsible for developing the company’s design strategy, philosophy and principles working with the engineering and manufacturing functions, as well as the customer insights team on the new models and derivatives promised under the Track22 business plan.


Mandeep Dhatt, Executive Director of HR
Mandeep joined McLaren Automotive in 2013, three years after the company was founded. It is now the largest part of the McLaren Group employing over 2,300 people.

Mandeep graduated from Kingston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies which included a placement year undertaken in a HR role.

She subsequently went on to obtain her HR qualification and her Masters in Human Resource Management while working first at the publishing house HarperCollins and then Bristol Myers Briggs.

She then moved to Mouchel where, in her role as HR Business Partner, she took on a national role working with a variety of clients.

In 2013 she joined McLaren Automotive, initially partnering the product development team and then broadening her role into Head of HR taking on responsibility for all people matters.

She was promoted to her current Executive Director of HR in 2016. 


Ken Smart, Executive Director of Business Strategy
Prior to taking up his current role as McLaren Automotive’s Executive Director of Business Strategy, Ken was Project Director responsible for establishing the McLaren Composites Technology Centre (MCTC) in Sheffield.

Prior to joining McLaren, Ken was Managing Director of three aerospace and defence companies, two of which turned around under his tenure and the third was successfully divested.

Ken honed his lean manufacturing and management skills in the automotive and aerospace sectors, growing from single site Manufacturing Director to VP Operations globally.

Prior to that he was a Management Consultant with PA Consulting Group, working extensively with aerospace and automotive clients.

Ken is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.  He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree (hons.) from Loughborough University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Warwick Business School.


Rob Raven – Executive Director - Quality
Rob has been with McLaren Automotive since July 2015, having previously worked for JLR and General Motors.

Rob graduated as a mechanical engineer from the University of Sussex  and has spent his whole career working in automotive quality.

The transition from high volume manufacturing to hand built bespoke cars at McLaren has been a career highlight and has offered the opportunity to combine best practice experience from previous manufacturing systems.

Rob’s focus at McLaren is to ensure the customer experience reflects the exacting brand standards, and he manages a team who are integrated throughout the organisation to ensure that from concept to delivery, the designed intent is what is delivered.


Gareth Dunsmore, Chief Marketing Officer
Prior to joining McLaren Automotive, Gareth spent 18 year’s Nissan UK, Europe and beyond developing his knowledge of sales, distribution, marketing, product planning, digital commerce, electric vehicles and connected cars.

Gareth led the Nissan Europe Electric Vehicle team between 2015 2019, products across the energy and charging infrastructure industries. Recognised by industry peers, he received both the Automotive News Rising Star and Euro Star awards for helping kickstart the EV market in Europe.

More recently, Gareth was Vice Present for brand, marketing and customer experience across Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Russia leading the advertising campaigns, connected car programme as well as the online and in-store digital experiences. 

Gareth has driven the full launch of multiple electric vehicles, implemented the delivery of a global connected car platform on vehicles in Europe and Russia as well as created a set of unique customer experiences in partnership with the UEFA Champions League, Ministry Of Sound and at racing events such as Le Mans and the European legs of the Formula E race series.
