The launch of McLaren 570S Coupé and the 540C Coupé in 2015 marked a pivotal point in the short history of McLaren Automotive – the launch of the Sports Series. Charged with appealing to an entirely new buyer, the launch also completed the three tier product family – Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series. This year, McLaren Automotive has launched the second of three bodystyles which will form the Sports Series; the new McLaren 570GT. Initially revealed at the recent Geneva International Motor Show, the 570GT is the most refined and luxurious McLaren ever built and makes its debut in Asia at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. Also present on the McLaren Automotive stand will be a 650S Spider and a 570S Coupé featuring enhancements by McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

Benefitting from the high-performance DNA of the McLaren sports and supercars, the new 570GT focuses on daily usability and grand touring comfort, and is designed for cross-continent journeys.  Sharing the newly developed suspension system with the other models in the Sports Series, the 570GT emphasises long distance comfort through further fine tuning to the system which includes a reduction in spring rate stiffness. Independent adaptive dampers can be dynamically adjusted through Normal, Sport and Track settings, and are coupled to front and rear anti-roll bars. The lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis is also shared with the other Sports Series models. The 570GT features a large panoramic glass roof to create a luxurious and comfortable driving environment with a light and airy cabin. Immediately behind the panoramic glass roof is the side-opening glass hatch that opens to expose the car’s unique Touring Deck and increased luggage space. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 M838TE engine produces 570PS (562bhp), and accelerates from 0-100km/h (0-62 mph) in a mere 3.4 seconds.

The McLaren Automotive stand also showcases the bespoke work available from McLaren Special Operations with a uniquely finished example of the 570S Coupé designed specifically for the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. As the initial bodystyle in the Sports Series, the 570S Coupé is the perfect combination of pragmatic daily usability and extraordinary sports car driving experience. Finished in Vermillion Red, the 570S Coupé features a host of carbon fibre upgrades through the MSO Defined programme, demonstrating the breadth of the personalisation available.

About McLaren Automotive:

McLaren Automotive is a British manufacturer of luxury, high-performance sports and super cars, located at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, Surrey. For the past 30 years, McLaren has pioneered the use of carbon fibre in vehicle production and since introducing a carbon chassis into racing and road cars with the 1981 McLaren MP4/1 and 1993 McLaren F1 respectively, McLaren has not built a car without a carbon fibre chassis.

Following the global launch of McLaren Automotive in 2010, the groundbreaking 12C was revealed in 2011, the 12C Spider in 2012, and the limited-run McLaren P1™ went into production in 2013. In keeping with its plan to introduce a new model each year, the company unveiled the 650S, in Coupé and Spider form in 2014, while 2015 proved to be a year of unprecedented growth of the product portfolio with five new models launched across the full range. The strictly limited edition 675LT Coupé premiered at the Geneva Motor Show alongside the track-only McLaren P1™ GTR which, with 1,000PS, became the most powerful model ever produced by the brand. The much-anticipated Sports Series became the third – and final – model tier in the McLaren range with the 570S Coupé and 540C Coupé debuting in New York and Shanghai respectively, less than one month apart. The end of the year saw the launch of the fifth model, the 675LT Spider, which was as a direct response to customer demand. The year also saw the end of production for the first model in the Ultimate Series as the 375th McLaren P1™ was completed, closing what has become a defining year for the British brand.
